QR Code Generator: how it works in 3 steps
Choose the type
Choose “QR code” at the top for links, text and contacts, or “WiFi QR code” for your network.
Enter your details
Enter the link or your WiFi details. The preview updates instantly.
Download
Download the QR code as PNG or SVG. For WiFi there is also a ready-made card to print.
WiFi QR code: guests connect with one scan
A WiFi QR code contains the network name, password and encryption in a standard format. Current smartphones recognise it directly in the camera app and connect with one tap. Nobody has to type long passwords.
How an iPhone connects
Open the camera app, point it at the QR code and tap the prompt to join the network. This works from iOS 11.
How Android phones and Samsung Galaxy connect
From Android 10, the camera app or the built-in QR scanner recognises the code and offers to connect right away. On Samsung phones you also find the QR scanner in the quick settings.
Typical places to use it
- Guest WiFi at home or in a holiday rental
- Waiting rooms, cafés, restaurants and hotels
- Meeting rooms and office receptions
- Trade fair stands and events
Which QR codes can you create here?
- Link: opens a website, for example your menu or review page
- Text: shows a short message
- Email: opens a ready-made email with recipient and subject
- Phone and SMS: starts a call or a text message
- Contact (vCard): saves your contact details straight to the address book
Tips for a QR code that scans reliably
Print the code at least 2 × 2 cm, leave a light border around it and use a dark colour on a light background. For print, SVG is the best choice because it stays sharp at any size.
QR Code Generator: your benefits
Your WiFi password stays private
The code is created in your browser. Neither your password nor your data is sent to a server.
No expiry date
Your data is stored directly in the QR code. It works forever, with no redirect through third-party servers and no subscription.
PNG and SVG
PNG for screens and print, SVG for flyers, posters and business cards at any size.
Your own colours
Match the foreground and background colour to your design.
Frequently asked questions about the QR Code Generator tool
Is the QR code generator free?
Yes. You can create and download as many QR codes as you like for free, without sign-up and without a watermark.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. The data is stored directly in the QR code. There is no redirect through a server, so the code keeps working forever.
Is my WiFi password stored or transmitted?
No. The WiFi QR code is created entirely in your browser. Your password never leaves your device.
Which phones can scan the WiFi QR code?
iPhones from iOS 11 and Android phones from Android 10, including Samsung Galaxy, connect directly via the camera or QR scanner.
Which encryption should I choose?
Most home and office networks use WPA2 or WPA3. In that case choose “WPA/WPA2/WPA3”. You find the exact setting in your router’s WiFi settings.
What does error correction mean?
It sets how much of the code can be damaged or covered before it becomes unreadable. “Medium” fits almost always, “High” is good for codes that hang outdoors or may get scratched.
